Hi friends,

Long before Loom had a name, I was learning how deeply a place, and the people within it, can shape us. I was twelve when I first left home for boarding school, and in the years that followed, I moved from Tyrone to Farmington to Claremont. Each community welcomed me into its own traditions, friendships, and way of seeing the world, and each became part of who I was growing into.

Through them, I learned that belonging is not about becoming the same. It is the rare feeling of being fully yourself while knowing you are part of something larger. Long after we leave, that feeling stays with us—in the friendships we keep, the traditions we remember, and sometimes, in the objects we carry.

At Miss Porter’s, one of my fondest memories was our ring ceremony. The ring itself was simple, but it came to hold so much: the years we spent growing up together, the people who shaped us, and our connection to a place that would remain part of us. It showed me that an object can be small and still carry an entire world of meaning.

I studied art in college and found my way through photography, writing, and design. I have always been drawn to beautiful things, but beauty alone has never been what makes an object matter. The things we keep are the ones that tell us something—who we were, who we loved, and where we belonged.

Loom grew where those two parts of my life met: my experience of growing up in school communities, and my desire to create meaningful objects that hold memory and connection. Today, we work with schools and institutions to listen closely, uncover what matters, and create pieces that feel deeply personal while carrying the spirit of an entire community.

If you have ever held onto something not simply for what it is, but for everything it brings back, then you already know the feeling at the heart of Loom.
